Why Unicote

UniCote(r). endurance in colour steel

WHY UNICOTE® IS THE RIGHT CHOICE.

BUILT TO LAST

UniCote® uses a hot-dipped aluminium/zinc alloy-coated steel substrate. The outer layer is a polyester topcoat, using the latest infrared reflective pigments, baked on to a polyester primer. The result is an extremely durable paint system built to resist UV damage from Australia’s harsh sun, providing excellent colour and gloss retention.

TESTED. AGAIN AND AGAIN

Surviving a hot, unpredictable Australian summer is no easy task, so we make sure that UniCote® is tested to the rigorous Australian Standard AS/NZ 2728. Our work doesn’t just stop there – UniCote® is tested again and again to ensure it will last for many years to come.

HERE’S WHAT WE TEST:

SCRATCH RESISTANCE

Good scratch resistance. Testing includes needle scratch test – no marking of paint surface when a needle with a 2kg weight attached is drawn across.

IMPACT RESISTANCE

No loss of paint adhesion after a test piece is struck on the reverse side with a specified force.

BEND TEST

No loss of adhesion or paint cracking when bent around a diameter equal to five times the thickness of the steel sheet.

HEAT RESISTANCE

Suitable for continuous service up to 100ºC. Continuous service at higher temperatures may cause some colour change and damage to the paint film.

SALT SPRAY

Meets the requirements of AS/NZS2728:2013.

HUMIDITY RESISTANCE

Meets the requirements of AS/NZS2728:2013.

UV RESISTANCE

Meets the requirements of AS/NZS2728:2013.

MORE THAN JUST ROOFING

Due to its outstanding colour and gloss retention, UniCote® is not only suitable for roofing; it’s also great for walling, cladding, sheds, patios and pergolas where corrosion levels are low to moderate.
For more severe coastal environments we recommend the use of MagnaFlow™.

FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

We’re looking towards an environmentally sustainable future and because steel is 100% recyclable, we’re proud to say that UniCote® is contributing towards a greener planet. It’s also lightweight, making it more efficient and cost effective during transport.

CHOOSING A UNICOTE® ROOF HAS THE FOLLOWING BENEFITS COMPARED TO SOME OTHER BUILDING MATERIALS

INCREASED SECURITY

Steel Roofing is securely screwed down on every batten giving you additional security against illegal entry, meaning you can rest easier.

IMPROVED WATER COLLECTION

Unlike Cement tiles, a UniCote® steel roof doesn’t absorb water and allows greater for rainwater collection and drinking systems.

THERMAL EFFICIENCY

Steel roofing does not store heat, as tiles do, meaning it cools down considerably faster and will help contribute to reduced energy usage and costs.

LOW MAINTENANCE

Steel roofing naturally washed by rainwater will generally keep its good looks and perform for many years, not requiring mortar bedding or other bonding agents required by tile roofs that may crack or break overtime.

STORM RESISTANCE

UniCote® Steel roofing may dent during a large hailstorm, but will not crack. Cracks inevitably lead to costly water damage and inconvenience. Resistance to high winds is also a benefit of Steel Roofing.

STRONG AND LIGHTWEIGHT

An average steel roof is approximately 1 tonne, compared to a 12 tonne tile roof. This means less strain on roof framing, walls and foundations, reducing the chance of cracking walls and a sagging roof.
